The Lawyers' Alumni Group Committee was expanded in April 2011 to include four new members, and now comprises, Helena Donohoe, Jeffrey Forrest, Gauri Kasbekar-Shah (co-chair), Deshpal Panesar, Sung-Hyui Park, Genevieve Parke, Awaz Raoof, Shilpen Savani (co-chair) and Mona Wright.

The Committee works with the Alumni Relations team and the Law Department to provide members with networking events and activities, and keep members informed of legal news and events at the School.

We are always pleased to hear from members who have ideas for the Group or are keen to get involved - please email info@lselag.org.

If you would like to join the group please complete our online membership form.

Jeffrey Forrest graduated in law from LSE in 1968. He has spent most of his career as a solicitor and is currently a consultant with Brian Harris & Co., a central London firm.
He is a past President of the City of Westminster & Holborn Law Society and is a Council member of the Law Society of England and Wales, representing the City of Westminster. He currently serves on the Law Society’s Regulatory Affairs Board and the Professional Indemnity Insurance Committee.

Jeffrey is a Council member of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association and an active participant in meetings of the Federation des Barreaux Europeen. He is also a member of the International Section of the American Bar Association and its Human Rights Committee. He is actively involved in the Colombia Caravana project, supporting lawyers and human rights defenders in Colombia and he went to Colombia on the three Caravana visits to date, in 2008, 2010 and 2012.

Genevieve Parke took an LLM in International Commercial Law from LSE in 2005 and, although only a student of LSE for one year, truly had the time of her life. She was the LLM representative on the Committee back then and is delighted to be back now as an alumna. She also taught on Hugh Collins’ Commercial Contracts course at the School from 2006 to 2007, an experience which she remembers equally fondly.

Genevieve is a barrister of the Middle Temple with a broad contentious chancery and commercial practice. She is keen to assist students in obtaining access to the Bar and to forge links between the School and the Profession. When not in court or chambers, she likes to be outdoors.

Gauri Kasbekar-Shah studied law at LSE from 1996 to 1999 and enjoyed her experience so greatly that she decided to stay on to complete her LLM in 2000. Gauri was an active member of the Student Law Society from her first year (not being the shy retiring type), including acting as the Social Secretary in her final year. She was a regular at Wright's Bar and has particularly strong memories of their delicious cheese toasties and morning coffee! In her free time Gauri volunteers with a charity that funds education projects for underprivileged children in India and enjoys running (preferably when the sun is shining).

Gauri has continued to maintain strong links with the LSE and is keen to give something back to the the School both through her role on the Lawyers’ Alumni Group Committee and as a Governor of LSE.

Sung-Hyui Park read for an LLB at LSE between 2002 and 2005. She has very fond memories of her time at the School, including her experiences as Careers Officer with the Student Law Society, choregraphing and performing a jazz dance in front of 600 people (a thoroughly terrifying but rewarding experience!) and her weekly fix of salami and salad cream sandwiches at the inestimable Wright's Bar.

Sung-Hyui is currently an associate with Clifford Chance specialising in banking law. In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis and indulging a newly-acquired love of DSLR photography.

Awaz Raoof studied law at LSE from 2002 to 2005, a period in her life which she describes as one of the most enjoyable. Her fondest memories include becoming Sponsorship Officer of the LSE Law Society, end-of term Crush and making life-time friendships.

After leaving the LSE, Awaz practiced as an associate at Linklaters LLP before pursuing a career in international human rights. In her spare time, Awaz loves to run and listen to music. She is a new member of the committee, having joined the team in April 2011.

Shilpen Savani read law at LSE (and intermittently propped up the bar at the Three Tuns) between 1990 and 1993, before eventually going on to qualify as a solicitor and an attorney at the New York Bar. He is now a partner at the niche London firm Judge Sykes Frixou, where he is an employment law specialist.

He has recently renewed his ties with the LSE and relishes the opportunity to contribute to the Lawyers’ Alumni Group as a committee member. When he is not working Shilpen likes to indulge his passions for travel, film and literature.

Mona Wright read for an LLB at LSE between 1996-1999 and fondly remembers her stint at the School as one of the best times of her life, as fun as it was inspiring. She was the Careers Officer with the Student Law Society and is delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to the Lawyers’ Alumni Group as a committee member.

After practising at the Bar, Mona joined the litigation department at Allen & Overy as a non-practising barrister, where she currently specialises in international arbitration and commercial litigation.
