The Chilean Friends of LSE held a luncheon on 8 May to honour Alfredo Ovalle (LSE Taught Graduate 1973) and Robert Funk (MSc Comparative Government 1994, PhD Government 2004), who have been elected to prominent positions in the Chilean business and academic communities.
The group also held a Gala Dinner and a pre-departure event on 5 September at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Santiago for 30 alumni and 12 new LSE students. Mr Howard Drake, British Ambassador and Mr John Knagg, OBE, attended the latter event and the guest speaker was Mr Bob Blizzard, MP, who gave an interesting talk on the new Gordon Brown government.
