More than 200 alumni and friends attended an LSE reception in Limassol in November 2008, as part of efforts by a new committee to relaunch the Cyprus LSE Alumni Association, which had been an active force in previous years under the leadership of Michael Colocassides (BSc Economics 1955) and Azia Economidou (BSc Management Sciences 1991).

The event was hosted by former finance minister Michael Sarris (BSc Economics 1967), featured special guest speaker Stelios Haji-Ioannou (BSc Industry and Trade 1987), founder of easyGroup, and was generously sponsored by Cyprus Development Bank, Demstar, Politis, and PwC.
