LSE Alumni in Spain is a very active group, with
many events each year. In the year 2012-13, we have hosted Professors
Nick Barr, Andrés Rodrigues-Pose, Alistair McGuire, the LSE Director Craig
Calhoun, Dr Carsten Sorensen, and many more. There are around 900 LSE
alumni on LSE´s database, and we are constantly trying to reconnect with alumni
from past years, as well as newer graduates. The group is particularly
active in Madrid, Barcelona and the Basque Country, and is in close contact
with the UK Embassy, the British Council and other institutions in Spain.
The President of the LSE Alumni in Spain group is Dr
José Viñals (BA Stanford, MSc LSE, PhD Harvard, all in Economics), who was
formerly the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Spain and currently Financial
Counsellor and Director of Capital Markets and Monetary Affairs at the IMF in
Washington. The Secretary General is Adam Austerfield (MSc Political
Economy in Europe, 1998), and the Vice President is Miguel Solana (MSc ADMIS,
2004). Our contact is Inés Medrano, Administrative Officer at the LSE
Enterprise office in Spain.
If you would like to get involved in the group, please contact Inés; if you live in Spain and do not receive emails about events, simply contact the Alumni Relations team with your current email address and you’ll be added to the list.
