New look Houghton Street Online!
Following the launch of the new LSE website last year, we have been working hard with the School's web team and an external consultant to redesign the template for Houghton Street Online. We will keep you up to date with these developments.

LSE100: one year on
In 2009-10, the LSE100 pilot attracted 400 first year students from a range of LSE undergraduate degrees with 218 applications received by 8am on the first day. Following the success of the pilot, LSE100 is now compulsory for all incoming undergraduates, enabling them to explore some of the great intellectual debates of our time from the perspectives of different disciplines across the social sciences spectrum.

All change in the Annual Fund
We are delighted to introduce two new members of our Annual Fund team. Heather Campbell, who some of you have already met, joined us as Head of the Annual Fund in September 2010. She comes to us from the Annual Fund at Imperial College London, where she worked for five years.
Heather is joined by Shontae Romain, who started in January 2011 and will be looking after the Friends and Family programme. Shontae has worked in the Annual Fund at London Business School for the past five years. No stranger to the office, Shontae graduated from LSE in 2003, and worked, for a time, in ODAR where she started her Annual Fund career.

US Centennial Fund campaign
In December 2010 we set alumni, School leaders, parents and friends based in the US, the challenge of raising $100,000 of unrestricted funds for the Centennial Fund by the end of the US tax year on 31 December. Thanks to the generosity of donors from the US, they exceeded their goal and raised a total of $144,328 by the end of December. Thank you to all who donated and helped us reach this target.
To date the Centennial Fund has raised $201,243 in unrestricted funds this financial year.

Annual Fund calling programme
We welcomed 20 new student callers to the Annual Fund calling programme for the Michaelmas term. Over the term they reached 2,111 alumni, School leaders, parents and friends of the School, updating 2,000 alumni details and raising £59,302 for the Annual Fund from 563 donors, 106 of whom made gifts to the Annual Fund for the first time.

Matched Funding Scheme
Don't forget that this is the third and final year of the UK government's Matched Funding Scheme. This means that any gift that is made by 31 July 2011 will be matched 3:1 by the government. Meaning that, for example, a gift of £300 is now worth an extra £100 to LSE. There has never been a better time to support the LSE Annual Fund.
