Alumni Association - committees

The Alumni Association has six committees who report into the Executive Committee and have specific remits relating to the Alumni Association's objectives. Each committee has a chair which sits on, and reports back to, the Executive Committee.

The committees are:

 
Communications

The Communications Committee concentrates on making communications engaging for alumni, the committee has three main objectives:

  • Increase the number of registrants on Houghton Street Online;

  • Increase the use of the alumni group pages on Houghton Street Online;

  • Increase traffic and return visits to Houghton Street Online.

Group establishment, recognition and obligations

The Group establishment, recognition and obligation committee develops guidelines to support alumni groups. The committee provides guidelines on:

  • Create new alumni groups;

  • The recognition process of new groups;

  • Groups’ rights, responsibilities and obligations

  • Breaches of obligations by alumni groups and individuals

Group leaders' support

The Group leaders' support committee offers support and advise to Group Leaders' to assist them in effectively running their groups. The main areas that it advises on are:

  • Group membership recruitment and retention;

  • Identifying and sharing ideas and best practice;

  • Programmes including pre-departure events and alumni events based around LSE academics;

  • Succession planning.

Lifelong contacts

The Lifelong contacts committee suggests ways of increasing engagement with alumni for the School and alumni groups. The main objectives of the committee are to:

  • Facilitate the development of new alumni programming by alumni groups;

  • Examine the stages of development of alumni, from enrolment through retirement and recommend appropriate activities for each stage.

Mentoring

The Mentoring committee is one of our longest serving committees, the committee provides guidance in the development of alumni mentoring opportunities. The main objectives of the committee are to:

  • Develop and expand the Alumni Professional Mentoring Network;

  • Recruit, retain and engage mentors;

  • Liaise with the Careers Service for consistency and alignment of programmes.

Regional ambassadors

Regional ambassadors act as informal mentors to groups in their region with the objective of:

  • Providing guidance to new groups in their region;

  • Helping to regenerate inactive groups in their region.
