Over 250 alumni and their guests gathered for the LSE Alumni Reunion for the graduating years of 1984 - 1987 which was held on the 10 - 11 July 2009 at LSE.

Alumni travelled back from over 20 countries to attend the Reunion and were welcomed on Friday, 10 July by having tours of the schools and a speech from LSE Director, Howard Davies about the latest developments at the School. After the speech, alumni went to the Senior Dining Room for an opportunity to reconnect with their classmates at the ‘Welcome reception and dinner’. Alumni were delighted that some academics were able to attend as well, including Lord Desai, Professor Nick Barr, Professor Chris Coker, Professor David Downes, Dr Jan Stockdale, Professor Lucien Foldes and Carol Hewlett.

Many alumni joined the reunion celebrations on Saturday, 11 July which was mostly held in the New Academic Building. Panel discussions were held throughout the day in the Sheikh Zayed Lecture Theatre where current academics were joined by alumni on the panel to discuss certain topics. The morning discussions were ‘The Boom and Bust Economy – is history repeating itself?’ followed by ‘The Way We Were – 1980s’. After the morning sessions, alumni then convened at the Waldorf Hotel for lunch in the Homage Restaurant. It was a very enjoyable lunch in a fabulous location. After lunch, alumni returned to LSE for the last panel discussion on ‘Superbrands – from local to global’. After which, some alumni had a tour of the school while others left to have some free time to explore London.

The reunion ended at the Shakespeare’s Globe where alumni were able to reunite for the last time during the weekend for a Celebration Feast and Reception. As alumni entered the Underglobe they were entertained with a reception followed by a walk through an exhibition which explored the life of Shakespeare, the London where he lived, and the theatre for which he wrote. After the exhibition, alumni then sat for the Celebration Feast which was a great way to finish the reunion. At the end of the evening many alumni left already talking about the next reunion which is due to be held in 2012.
