LSE100 receives a surge of applications

November 2009 News

The LSE100, a course introduced this year and subtitled ‘The LSE Course: Understanding the causes of things’, has already received an influx of applications. Described as ‘an innovative new course aimed at introducing first year undergraduates to the fundamental elements of thinking as a social scientist’, it consists of 6 modules taught over the Lent term of the first year and Michaelmas term of the second year.

LSE100 aims to broaden the intellectual experience of students by posing ‘big’ questions concerning areas such as climate change, culture and the difficulty in predicting big events. The course has received a great response from both students and academics alike with some of the Schools top lecturers teaching; amongst the lecturers for the first term are Professor Nicholas Stern, Rita Astuti and Michael Cox.

More information including an interview by Dr Jonathan Leape, LSE100 Course Director of Howard Davies, LSE Director, can be found on the LSE website.
