Lord Saatchi hosts successful House of Lords Annual Alumni Reception
LSE Governor and alumnus Lord Saatchi (BSc Sociology 1967) was the host for our eighth Annual Alumni Reception at the House of Lords in May, which brought together over 200 alumni and guests in a celebration of the LSE alumni community.
Lord Saatchi gave a warm and humorous speech about his time at the School and outlined how LSE prepared him for life at the House of Lords. “I only applied to LSE,” he commented. “I was only interested in going to LSE, because of what it stood for then and what it still stands for today said. LSE made me.”
Dame Shirley Pearce, Chair of LSE Court and Council, also addressed the audience to share the School’s latest developments, provide an update on the Centre Building development and encourage alumni to get involved with LSE.
There was a friendly and jovial atmosphere throughout the event, with guests joining us from as far afield as Germany, Hong Kong, Nigeria and the USA to socialise and network in the historic setting of the Houses of Parliament. We were also delighted to welcome graduates from the class of 2016, our newest members of the alumni community.
