	LSE ranked as top university in London

	The first major university guide of the year has ranked LSE as the third best university in the UK and London’s leading institution, maintaining its excellent position from last year. The Complete University Guide also places LSE in the top ten for eleven of the twelve subjects it offers, and it is once again rated as the top place in the UK to study Social Policy. >> Read more

	Chair of the LSE Council and Court of Governors

	LSE is seeking a successor to Peter Sutherland, whose final term of office will end in December 2015. The Chair of the LSE Council and Court of Governors is the senior non-executive director of LSE charged with leading the governance of the School. >> Read more

	Becoming LSE Advancement

	From August, the Office of Development and Alumni Relations (ODAR) will change its name to LSE Advancement. This change is recognition by the School that Advancement better reflects LSE’s global vision for the office. >> Read more

Obituaries
The School is sad to announce the death of Professor Simon Roberts. Simon first arrived at LSE as an undergraduate in 1959 and, after a short period lecturing in Malawi in the early 1960s before returning in 1964, forged an academic career of great distinction here. He produced pioneering scholarship in such fields as anthropology of law, family law, property law and alternative dispute resolution processes, and he served the School in many ways, including as Convenor of the Law Department and as Vice-Chair of the School’s Academic Board.
